Through out my trips *in particular Melbourne & Sydney*, there were many shops specializing in Chocolate. Solid / Liquid. *I kinda purposely sought it out…* Irregardless, it was a great hunt. With exceptional Hot Chocolate to taste… Mmmmm… Yum…….
There were 4 chocolate shops that we went. The first, Koko Black in Melbourne.
The decor was very classy, like the godfather kinda classy… hahaha It had a really relaxed atmosphere… I would go there everyday if it was only in Brisbane.. hehehe…
Darn! I should have put smaller pictures… This pictures are making me drool all over. The Belgian Spoil was really really really… absolutely Lovely! The chocolate ice cream was heavenly, the Chocolate Mousse was out of this world, the pralines, the one with stripes (amazing) was so much better than the other one, the shortbread was… urm.. normal and the mini chocolate cake was alright, not moist enough was my liking… but the mousse & the ice cream!!! Oh my goodness!
*Wait a minute, it’s supposed to be a hot chocolate hunt….* Ok my hot mocha chocolate obviously has a tinged of coffee in it, which I didn’t really like. But the Hot Cinnamon Chocolate which I had a sip was truly amazing! *Sorry if my vocabulary seems limited, cause it is* But the Cinnamon Hot Chocolate is really fantastic! How nice if I could have it everyday.. yum yum… *
Ok jump… This is beginning to be very long… NEXT!! stop #2 was… Max Brenner in Melbourne.
First up, I must say that Max Brenner is quite a marketer. His shop is much more modern and seems like a more upmarket yum cha place with same old mamak prices… *silly description*
The Milk Hot Chocolate was really interesting to drink as I have to hug the mug to drink… That’s the concept at least as U can always use one hand to drink… but to use both can help warm my hands too. Though I wasn’t cold that time.. eheheh The hot chocolate was fairly thick and milky. Lovely. *Sorry if the picture isn’t really in focus… my skills are so horrible I wouldn’t even call them skills*
This Max Brenner guy sure knows how to market his stuff… but if he were smarter, he should open one branch in Brisbane instead of all those branches in Melbourne which are so closed to each other… LOL
Stop #3 now… This time we move to Sydney. Shop of our choice? Guylian – Belgian Chocolate Cafe.
This one was served in a fairly interesting manner. It was served with a cup on a saucer and a piece of Guylian Milk Chocolate in the cup itself. Served together with the cup was a tin of Hot Chocolate. It was up to U how much hot chocolate you wanted to pour into the cup, to decide how mily you wanted it to be. The hot chocolate was very rich but a tad towards the sweet side. Still.. good hot chocolate in my books. I like sweet stuff… nyahahah…
Stoop #4 and the final stop… I think my readers would be sick of hot chocolate right now. The final stop is Lindt Cafe. GASP!!!! I don’t have pictures for this one!!! oh dear… oh well.. I’ll just make do without for now…
I ordered the hot milk chocolate *always will* and it was served with a mini mug containing concentrated milk chocolate, a mug containing hot milk *I presume* and an empty cup. We had more freedom in how thick & rich we wanted it to be or how milky we wanted our hot chocolate. It was very interesting, you could have thick & rich one minute and rich and milky another… fun!
However, every hunt has a winner… and the winner according to my tastebuds IS……. *drumroll please* dum…. dum dum dum… d….. u……m…………. Koko Black’s Cinnamon Hot Chocolate!
2nd: Lindt’s Hot Milk Chocolate
3rd: Guylian’s Hot Milk Chocolate
4th: Max Brenner’s Hot Milk Chocolate
5th: Koko Black’s Mocha Hot Chocolate
I didn’t get to try San Churro’s chocolate drink or Theobroma’s *cause Theobroma is in Malaysia*… Maybe some day.. some day.. for now… I shall satiate my appetite with pictures of Milk Chocolate… Mmmm…..
